Final Blog

This pass year I have learned a lot this year about mass media and doing all of m hours on time. This semester I was able to enjoy working on the projects that I did and not stress about getting my hours in on time like I had to do the first semester I was in college. I feel like I became John’s twin over this past semester and for the year because I consistently went over to him for help with anything that I needed help on. But I also realized that it’s more than just working in front of a camera and trying to read off a screen. It takes a team of people to come together and to work on certain items that makes the show run smoothly. A director, camera man, audio listener, and someone on the teleprompter make it so that whoever is on the screen will look good. I have done all of these jobs maybe about a hundred times now and I still think that people have to come and help me out while I’m doing it. Having the experience of doing all of these things makes me think that next year is going to be a breeze. Going out to the fields to cover games was probably my favorite part of the entire year. I love watching sports and being able to take all of it down and be able to edit the things that I shot just makes me excited. I do have some sports that I really don’t like to film or watch. I love Volleyball, I think it’s a great sport to play and that our team is one of the best in the country, but I hate filming it. It’s so hard just too actually get something decent on film when the ball just keeps getting smacked around all over the place. Next year, hopefully, we will be able to find an easier way to film the Lady Mocs, but it wasn’t the easiest thing to do. It wasn’t easy as well to have that be the first thing I ever film at FSC. John, and Kevin at the time, made it easy for me to learn exactly what I need to do to be able to become better at my craft. It’s going to be scary next year being that it’s going to be John’s last here, and I hope that I , and along with my other practicum peers, can step up and take over for him when he leaves. It will definitely be different not having him around to make fun of or to just talk to about how much I hate the Red Sox. But all in all I think that this was a great freshmen year and I think that next year I will be able to learn so much more form all of the great teachers I will have next year. This was an amazing time and I wouldn’t change anything about it.
